Ask the Expert: Food Combining

Q:  Is there validity to proper food combining?

A: There may be benefits to food combining, such as eating complementary plant proteins mixing beans with grains. However, all people are different. If one person feels better by eating fruit at the beginning of a meal, for example, then that's a pattern they should stick with. This is an area that probably needs more research. Until then, we recommend that people eat what makes them feel the best while also being a healthy combination of foods.
