What are some of your favorite magazines, cookbooks, websites, etc. (besides the ones here at the PCRM site)? There are lots of things "out there" and some are better than others. Personally, we dislike the veg*n sites/mags/cookbooks that assume tofu is the only option as a meat and dairy sub.

We like the Veganomicon cookbook - it's not low fat by any means in many of the recipes BUT it's got great information on the basics of how to cook beans, grains, etc and a nice "mix 'n' match" section where the recipes can be paired in any combo to make a nice meal - pick a bean, a green, and a grain and go for it. They've also got a nice "special meals menu" section (like for family gatherings) where you don't have to hunt for what to do for appetizer, entree, side, dessert, it's all arranged and kinda seasonally organized (spring event, fall event, etc).

Vegetarian Times is more on the vegetarian side (lots of dairy and eggs, and/or tofu which we skip) but the one ingredient five ways section is a treasure of ideas (even if we tweak it a bit).

I love this website and have posted it before. More than any vegan cookbook, it helps me learn how to cook vegan. I don't saute in oil and use the water saute. I play around with the ingredients and spices using this as a guide to the ratio of ingredients.

A year ago I bought a plant/based milk maker. The okara or fiber part of any milk I can use in making veggie burgers, "meatballs" or anything else my imagination will come up with. I have to admit I don't make "loaves". Sometimes I dehydrate and put it through a mill and make protien powder for my morning smoothie.

I've even used ingredients that are similar but not on the websites list, like hemp seeds, spinach, etc. These have been some of my best recipes because I can only put in what I like and make it work for me. I hope it helps.

I have ordered several things from The Vegan Store. http://www.veganstore.com Through that store I've gotten 2 DVD's: Forks over Knives, and Vegucated. Also some food items, cleaning products, books and pins. Watching the movie "Vegucated" should convince anyone that vegan is the way to go!

I came across all this through YouTube actually. I watched the Dr Bernards video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VWi6dXCT7I
and I went from there. This forum is great for information, I am trying to read it all and it would be great if there can be a way of telling what post I have read already.

Thanks to this forum I have some books in the post coming from McDougal and Dr Bernard. I get a lot of stuff from Amazon because I live in the UK and the resources seems to be a bit limited. I also got nutritional yeast, liquid smoke, pressure cooker, blender all from Amazon. I am this committed to this new awesome way of living!

Back to YouTube there is some good stuff like vegan omelet:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGGCMY49eME
I like how the chef on the end of the video say that he actually never had omelet made from eggs javascript:addSmiley('Very Happy');

I am huge fan of at Free Vegan and Happy Herbivore and many other stuff from the posts above.

Hana,

That vegan omelette from the Zombie Vegan looks good. I'm going to give it a try (without the oil).

Engine 2 had a good recipe for an eggless breakfast recipe, Migas Especiales.

http://engine2diet.com/recipe/migas-especiales/

I thought the only place I could purchase Nutritional Yeast was an hour away at Whole Foods. Then I found Vitamin Shoppe near me carries 2 or 3 brands of nutritional yeast at a good price too.
