Just in case any one here needs even more evidence about the health benefits of a vegan diet - this is a really good book.

I agree - powerful stuff. There are many good recipes also. Just wish my hubby with high cholesterol would read it.

Ditto for my hubby, but his first doctor convinced him that drugs are the way. He's been on the drugs since long before I came along even though his new cardiologist recommended Dean Ornish's diet to Reverse Heart Disease. Old habits are hard to break. Popping that pill every day is just way too easy.

I must say I thouroughly loved this book. In fact I loved it so much that I decided to buy a copy for all my friends.

It's times like that when I feel greatful that I only have two friends. Any more than that would've completely broked me out.

On a related note, I hear that Dean Ornish has started working for McDonalds. I'm pretty sure it's true too. No wonder his advice has become so freakin' watered down.

Dean Ornish? McDonalds? I'll have to check that out. Will be WAY disappointed if it's true.

I'm going to hope that he is trying to help them develop some healthier items for their menu.

It does but it sounds like dancing with the devil. Change has to come from somewhere, hope it's a start.

I'm not sure. Apparently he's been there for 5 years already.

It just seems like they've had more influence on him than the other way round.

Now it has come out that McDonald's, KFC and Pepsi are going to be partnering with the government to set a health policy on obesity. Does it get any crazier than that?

I read that article yesterday, too, and it said that happened in the UK. It probably happens in the US, too, but we just don't hear about it. Big food lobbyists have a lot of power in Washington, unfortunately. Sad

No need to apologise Mommyof2. It's Ronald McDonald who should be apologising.

Actually I've just thought of something. In England we have something called April Fools Day. It's basically a day (1st April) when TV stations and newspapers make up false stories to try and fool the public. You're probably thinking, "hang on a minute, don't they do that every day ?" Well yes they do, but on April Fools Day they really step it up a notch.

Anyway, I was just wondering whether you guys have a day like that in the USA, but maybe in the middle of November. Like November Fools Day.

Perhaps I'm clutching at straws.

We have April Fools Day in the US, too. I wish we had a day like that in November! It would be much less disheartening if it all turned out to be a joke. Rolling Eyes
