catbear Joined: 01/04/11 Posts: 76	Tempeh bacon is the greatest invention ever! Posted Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at 4:55 PM Just tried my first tempeh bacon and I'm obsessed. Seriously, it's even more amazing than sliced bread. I'd tried and failed at cooking with tempeh before, but a tempeh BLT is not a sad imitator, it is fantastic!

For seven (!) slices: 130 calories, 1g fat, 300g sodium, 5g fiber, 3g sugar, 12g protein, 8% calcium, 10% iron. I think sandwiches are definitely the best setting for tempeh. I never found it to work well in things like stews or pasta. Never make assumptions. It's a very good facsimile of bacon, which I always found too greasy anyway. www.lightlife.com I like tempeh in Tikka Masala and other dishes that have a strong flavored sauce. It needs to be steamed first, though.
