RE: How sad.

On the bright side, look at all they had to go through because consumers stopped buying anything with HFCS in it. Big marketing campaigns, name change, etc. Getting the conversation started is half the battle and consumers voted with their wallets. People started reading labels and choosing based on what they saw there. That's all to the good. Folks get into habits and once the habit of checking labels and evaluating ingredients is there, it's hard to break. It's now a "selling point" to say something is made with "real sugar". The high sugar levels in general are a whole other issue but at least people are looking now. One big grocery chain up here has started a "simple" way to evaluate nutrition (for the busy folks who can't stop to read a label but need the info right in their face). They had a group of doctors and nutritionists evaluate common foods (cereals, sauces, produce, etc) and give it a number between 1 and 100. The higher the number, the better the nutritional value. Heavily sugared cereals get values under 30; fresh broccoli gets 100. --Deb
