RE: May Kickstart

May 1 was my son's birthday...EEEK! I did my best with the celebratory food around. I managed to remain vegan but did consume too many empty calories. Good for you, Molly, to stay clear of meeting food even when you're hungry. I wish I had your resolve. I went for my 3-month A1C last week and got the results today. I'm not impressed! The fasting glucose number was down but the overall number was up. And my C Reactive Protein number was up too! Way too high at 6.2 (it was 5.8 in January which is still too high). Not sure what I can do to reduce this number to a safer level of <5 - anyone know? I've been fighting a recurring bronchitis for 8 weeks so this could be the cause for both blood sugar and CRP increase..I believe. The good news was my cholesterol numbers are now within range. I have been taking Crestor as well as avoiding animal products so unsure what contributed more to the great numbers. Will ask my doc to take me off the Crestor for a while perhaps with my next prescription renewal. My HDL number was down slightly though and I wondered if that was due to avoiding fats (even the good fat in nuts/seeds/olives). Such a juggling act, eh!
