Sugar in almond milk
Posted Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 11:09 PM

I bought a small box of vanilla almond milk and noticed when I got it home that cane syrup is the 2nd ingredient. I'm confused. How can this be better than regular milk which has no added sugar?

Cow's milk has sugar, lactose. A cup of 2% milk has 12g of sugar: http://nutritiondata.self.com/facts/dairy-and-egg-products/71/2 Check out a label at the store. You can buy unsweetened almond milk. Takes a little getting used to because cow's milk is a tiny bit sweet, but it's a great option.

You've got read the labels to be sure you're getting additive (sugar)free Almond Milk. Some of the major brands have a label across the front that states it's unsweetened but not all of them do. I'm suffering through a container of sweetend almond milk right now... It tastes awful to me.
