I have one...got a refurbished Excalibur for a good deal about 2 years ago. The only drawback is it's BIG, but if you have a place to store it or lots of counter space maybe that's not a concern. It's not very loud--a low fan noise. It makes less racket than my dishwasher. It will work perfectly for drying your extra tomatoes. I'm going to do that this year too. I've also made zucchini chips when we have a ton of those--slice them lengthwise, then into rectangles, because they shrink a lot. Crackers/breads can be made from juice pulp, nutmilk pulp, etc. usually mixed with flax, so it's a good way to use these "leftovers." Raw wraps and fruit leathers are also fun. It's a tiny bit of a pain to clean, just because there are so many parts. But the recipes don't tend to be very messy. All the trays come out, and the screens and trays can be washed in a sink of soapy water. The sheets I just wipe down with a soapy sponge, then a damp one to rinse. You do have to be the kind of person who plans ahead, as some of the recipes can take 1 day or more.
