Cravings

Please offer suggestions to minimize/eliminate cravings for bread. I've redirected to rye and pumpernickel, but I'm still eating way too much bread. Anyone else have this challenge?

Is it having a negative effect on your health, such as prohibiting needed weight loss? Or do you feel like it is displacing variation found with fruits, vegetables, and other grains?

If so, you could consider how to crowd out bread products. By making sure you eat X amounts of fruits per day, X amounts of vegetables and beans, and at least one or two servings of some whole grains like oats and brown rice, you might find the bread intake and cravings will go down.

Maybe after you try more of the meal plan recipes, you'll choose to add some new foods to your diet & won't crave bread so much. When I started eating a plant based diet, I discovered there are lots of unrefined starchy vegetables, legumes, and grains (that satisfy hunger) that I'd never even tasted before. Here are a few filling plant foods to try:
barley
oats
brown rice
quinoa
buckwheat
rye
bulgur (cracked wheat)
triticale
couscous (refined wheat)
wheat berries
corn
wild rice
millet
sweet potatoes
celeriac (celery root)
tapioca
Jerusalem artichoke (sunchoke)
taro root
jicama
water chestnuts
parsnips
white potatoes
rutabaga
yams
butternut squash
acorn squash
Hubbard squash
banana squash
pumpkin
buttercup squash
turban squash
aduki (azuki) beans
red kidney beans
black beans
mung beans
fava (broad) beans
navy beans
garbanzo beans (chick-peas)
pink beans
great northern beans
pinto beans
limas
white kidney (cannellini) beans

I'm a pastaholic. When I started eating more potatoes my pasta cravings went away. Maybe it would work for your bread cravings too! Worth a try.
