How about Japanese or Thai? Japanese restaurants have veggie sushi, miso soup, steamed edamame and many other options. Some offer brown rice. Ask about sauces and whether they contain fish sauce. At a Thai restaurant there are many veggie noodle or rice dishes. But be sure to ask about sauces because many are made with fish sauce or chicken broth. Mediterranean or Greek restaurants are also good bets. You can try falafel, skip the feta. My local place has a terrific roasted vegetable sandwich. Avoid the yogurt sauce (tadziki). Indian restaurants have many vegetarian options. Avoid the yogurt sauces. But domtry the chutneys and naan bread, without butter. Lots of Indian dishes have chick peas, potatoes, and curries that can be mild or hot, and even sweet. I haven't been able to convince my local place to do brown rice, but I am working on it.
