Hi I really like this way of eating and have been following the program since spring while I was waiting for the kickstart to begin again. I have lost just about 30 lbs. now and am wanting to lose another 30. I am very committed to my health and an working hard to live in a healthy way. However, I do wonder about the lack of fat in this approach. I understand the need to eliminate bad fats and to use fat carefully but I have also read that our brains need a certain amount of fat and so I am wondering if this approach can work in the long run. I do use flax and chia but still wonder if I need more for the long term. Your thoughts on this would be appreciated. Thanks

Your brain and your body gets plenty of fat naturally from whole grains, vegetables, fruits, and legumes. This diet is sustainable for any stage of life.

And Congratulations!

I think the main thing is no ADDED fats, like processed oils, etc. I eat an ounce of raw Brazil nuts everyday. I also sprinkle some ground flaxseed on my salad. Right there I'm getting LOTS of fat, but it's in the form of whole, natural foods, not processed oil. I think you do have to be careful not to eat too many high fat foods, but if you just eliminate the processed oils you are 1000% better than the typical SAD diet.
