Homemade Tofu?

I wonder, is it possible to create your own tofu?

It is possible, but it is labor intensive. I don't know that I would do that work when there are so many forms available. I did make my own soymilk for a while but didn't care much for it.

A bit of internet surfing should give you an idea of what is involved. Let us know if you embark on this venture!

I bought a soy milk maker for about $100 about 7 years ago and with the savings over store-bought soy milk, it paid for itself in about 6 months. (It takes about 50 cents worth of soybeans to make a half-gallon of soy milk.) It is still going strong!

The taste is not exactly like store-bought but Bryanna Clark Grogan has a great website with suggestions for "nonbeany" milk: http://www.bryannaclarkgrogan.com/page/page/638376.htm

The same website where I bought the soy milk maker also sells the coagulant for tofu here: http://www.soymilkquick.com/tofu.php

You make the milk first, then add the coagulant in a tofu press. I have not tried doing it, though, as I use up my soy milk pretty fast.

OOPs - sorry for the double post

I was pulled away from the computer and forgot I had posted already but I can't figure out how to delete, just edit.
