my triathlon group is doing a competition
Posted Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 9:35 PM
Don't get excited about the "triathlon" thing - I'm a very big girl, I do triathlons anyway. I'm usually 2nd to last or so, but I do them. My training group is doing a weight loss competition leading up to the start of training in March. I need to drop some pounds before training - the track part is hard on my feet at 200+ pounds. Also I turn 49 next Friday & I want this to be the year I finish at least in the pack. Even at the back of the pack, but at least not 30 minutes behind everyone. So I'm looking forward to this kickstart helping me with this competition thing, and getting lighter on my feet for triathlon season.

So what does the "competition" entail?

weight loss - by % lost, not by poundage, and it is over 3 months, so long & steady will work best - doing a crazy diet might help at the beginning, but isn't sustainable over 3 months

Well, this isn't a crazy diet, it's a lifestyle change, so you should do fabulous for the competition and the rest of your life. Good luck to you!

You are wise not to fall to the allure of 'crazy diet'. We always seem to forget how badly it turned out the last time! I know it took me a long time to finally get that one. It's great to have a fitness event on the calendar to help with motivation and focus. Fun! Lani

I've been vegetarian since 1988, never made it longer than 8 weeks vegan. I hope between this recipe plan & the competition, I'll make it longer as a vegan

I think it is % of overall weight. Which, as the biggest one in the group (I know from last season) I think gives me an advantage. I have the most to lose, the highest % of body fat. Also - next week is my birthday week, I'm going to have at least _some_ chocolate.
