One week in and I do feel somewhat better after meals...not so bloated and ready for a nap! Laughing I was just hoping that such a change would give me more energy and that I would've lost at least one pound by now. My husband thinks this is extreme and unhealthy, so I don't have much support here at home. When will I start seeing and feeling results? I really need some support and advice right now because I feel like giving up. I know it's only been one week, I just feel defeated and I'm begining to wonder if my eating is "balanced." don't give up. it takes a little while to get used to new things. Smile

susan advised someone in another thread not to focus on pounds lost (or not lost) quite yet. your body is still adjusting. she recommended weighing yourself once a week, not daily.

personally, i tend to go up or down 1-3 pounds even in a single day. i always weigh more in the evenings than in the mornings--probably because i drink so much water!

hang in there. good luck! focus on how good it feels to make a positive change--even if the going seems slow--and all the new things you are learning. Smile

It might help if we talk about what you're eating. I am not following the meal plan on this site, I'm going on my own. Oranges give me a lot of energy, I notice white potatoes make me very sluggish and sleepy. I haven't noticed a big change in the way I feel, but I have lost .6 lb. Not a lot, but something. I am fairly overweight, so I have a lot to lose.

Let us know what you're eating and maybe we can suggest things to add in that will make you feel more energetic. Take care, Chris

very good point!

i'm not following the meal plan either, though i have picked out several recipes to try.

other people have pointed out that following the plan exactly may not be enough calories for everyone, and that it's meant to be adjusted and customized.

I've also noticed feeling more tired - like could-fall-asleep-this-second tired, and have not lost weight yet. I do like doing the challenge, even though I usually hate regimented routines, but this one has a lot of room in it. But I feel hungry quite a bit, which is unpleasant and not good for motivation in the long-term. I need to figure out some more filling foods besides legumes, which don't seem to be cutting it.

thanks for the replies. luckily I've been keeping a food journal so I'll post a couple days of what I've been eating. rb, I'm with you there...my appetite is finally leveling out just a little, but most of the week I've been practically eating all day, which I am *not* used to. I can't seem to stay satisfied for more than an hour or two and I'm only lightly active. I'll be back in a few with my food entries...

I don't know if this is clinically proven, or where you live, but I thought I'd heard people tend to lose less in the colder winter months, maybe as the body's way of keeping us warm thru storing fat? Also, if you haven't already, stay away from refined starches..switch to brown rice if you haven't already, whole grains, etc. Also, I bet if you haven't lost any weight your pants are fitting a bit looser, now that there's none of the bloating from dairy and eggs, etc.

Stick with it: a month from now, I guarantee you'll be feeling better, weighing less, and giving the next "frustrated" the same pep talk. Whether you are seeing it right now on a scale or not, you are doing your body, and the planet, a lot of good!

[b]I have been on this offically a week, but I did "play" with a few alterations a week before diving in...I had to make major changes as I was heading for a diabetic situation and have all ready been battling cholestrol for a couple of years...also joined the "Y" to exercise...I all ready feel better, my blood sugar is down, and I have lost 11.2 pounds in these two weeks. I have really stuck with the program, and intend to continue this as a life style change, I cannot afford to lose my health because of my fork. As a nurse I knew what not to eat, but played fast and loose with my health...don't give up, just know that you are really doing something wonderful for you, and all of those who love you...Tofu has become my new friend...lol...

Dear Frustrated,

What are you me?! I only lost a pound this week and don't have a very supportive husband which is huge. He's trying his best and -- well, enough said. Anyway, such is why I decided to register for this forum and hopefully find support with you all. Strangers on the same path.

Thanks to all the comments on your post I'm feeling better and ready to plan and start my day.

Good luck to you.

I had a physical therapist years ago who told me to not go by the scale, but rather to go by how my clothes fit. Her feeling (and I agree) was that your weight can vary (especially for women) based on things besides your diet, but your clothes do not change size. It was a much better meter for me to see how my body was improving (at that time, through exercise alone).

Mars, good luck to you as well! and thanks for the advice, rb. So far my clothes feel the same. lol. I'm hanging in there! Wink

Okay CityKitty. This looks pretty good. Since you stated that you have low-energy, I wonder if maybe you aren't eating enough. It's hard to say without seeing all of your amounts. But I would suggest adding some more whole fruits as snacks and as a part of breakfast. I would add more vegetables anywhere you can. Spaghetti with marinara is great, but how about throwing in some spinach or broccoli to the sauce? Someone once told me she grated lots of carrots into her marinara sauce because it gave it a "meaty" texture.

And any steamed vegetable or side salad (as you did) added to your meal is good. And when you eat things like burritos - absolutely stuff it with the vegetables, beans, and rice. Don't be shy.

And of course, drink lots of water.

You're doing a great job. We all have room for improvement!
