Pretty much any kind that indicates in the ingredients/nutrition info that it is vegan (most are - very few have any kind of animal product added), low/no fat, low/no sugar, and if at all possible, 5 grams of fiber per serving or better. And, keep an eye on sodium (oddly enough some cereals have a ton of added salt for whatever reason). The first few ingredients in the list (since they get listed by highest proportion to lowest) should be some whole grain (whether it's whole oats or whatever).

With cereal, particularly, I've found it really helpful to have a kitchen scale that can measure in grams. 1 cup of flakes tends to be hard to measure because of all the air between the flakes. When measured into a bowl (put the bowl on the scale then zero it out), it's much easier to get a precise serving size to work with (how much you can eat is a different matter but it is helpful to see what portion size the label is talking about).

there are just so dang many and not all of them are available everywhere, not to mention some folks have particulars (don't like too crunchy, don't like stuff that gets mushy too fast, etc) and price is always a factor as well. Best bet is to look at the most basic cereals out there - a whole grain of some sort and nothing else - pick the simplest ingredient list you can find. Then add to that base with plant milk and fruit or a small amount of nuts (if you're needing a little extra boost - I find the little bit of extra protein from a scant handful of nuts helpful in the morning YMMV)

Hi Devasha,
I am sure you will get replies, but there are some at another post with this exact question.

please see the post titled breakfast help by cch22 (me) posted on Sept 8th. It has 12 replies and lots of names along with good ideas. I am new too and a cereal eater in the am.

I wonder if the PCRM can post a list for us of acceptable cereals, including those that are gluten free? They require 5g of fibre per serving, so not all cereals are good.
