Tasty Vegan Yogurt?

I tried my first soy yogurt yesterday and it was gross! I wound up eating trail mix for breakfast instead. Anyone know any good brands?

I'm not a yogurt-eater, but a friend of mine buys stonyfield farms soy yogurts. I hope that wasn't the brand you tried already!

I didn't even know they made soy. I thought my local Kroger store only had one brand. I think it was Whole Soy Co. blueberry that I bought. Now that I know that I'll take a closer look at their Stoneyfield's lineup in case it's in there.

I bet the one you tried was Whole Soy, which is disgusting I think! I've never seen Stonyfield soy yogurt and will try to find it at my grocer or ask them to carry it. I LOVE yogurt, so going vegan is really hard for that one. Good Luck!

Every soy yogurt I've tried has tasted TERRIBLE. It's one of the things I haven't been able to duplicate. But I do like the soy pudding called Silken Creations. It's very low in fat, and it hits the texture spot for me that yogurt and pudding do. It's not an everyday food, with the sugar and stuff, but it really is good: http://www.nasoya.com/nasoya/silkencreations_vanilla.html I also make my own soy puddings, and they're good, as well: just silken tofu, sugar, vanilla and, sometimes, cocoa powder.

Thanks for the replies. I think I might get off my bum soon and brave the frigid weather to get to Whole Foods and back before traffic time. If I buy any soy yogurts and they turn out to be decent, I'll let you guys know. I went through a bunch of recipes and came up with a shopping list, and boy am I scared what my checkout bill will be!

On the grocery bill, just remember that in a lot of cases, this means you're eating out less, and the money one meal out can feed you for DAYS on a homemade vegan diet.

I bought Stoneyfield soy yogurt -- it's called O'Soy -- but haven't tasted it alone. I did make a smoothie with it (a cup of yogurt, an acai berry smoothie packet or frozen berries, juice and ice), and it tasted as good as with regular yogurt.

The soy yogurt I have is made by Olympic called "Soyogurt". The strawberry one I have is delish! It's great atop a fruit salad. (I'm in Canada so not sure if this brand is available elsewhere...hope so. It's great.)

I tried "Soy Delicious." It made me shudder it was so nasty. The texture was sooo off! I bought another brand made w/coconut milk, but I haven't tried it yet. It's higher in calories, but I only eat 1/2 a container at a time. I miss my greek yogurt!

I tried the Wholesoy brand bluebeery...she's right. It was horrible! I just had to run to the ridge and see if that was the same brand!

Never really found a soy yogurt I like but I LOVE THE COCONUT MILK YOGURTS - lots of different flavors. I could eat em all day- more expensive and more fat but good fat (coconut) but something you still have to consider.

I didn't like the coconut-milk yogurts. Yogurt is the one thing I have just resigned myself to not having again. Dairy yogurt gives me stomach cramps, and I haven't found a non-dairy yogurt that I liked at all. Oh, well, there are still fifty bazillion things for me to eat.
