Agave vs table sugar
Posted Sunday, February 28, 2010 at 11:36 AM

I read on this forum that agave syrup has a lower glycemic load than table sugar so I bought some and have been enjoying it immensely in my morning coffee. But - it would appear from the label that it has as much sugar per teaspoon as table sugar does (4 grams/tsp).

I'm confused now. Is agave syrup really lower on the glycemic index that regular ol' white sugar?

It may have the same amount of carbohydrate, but glycemic index reflects the type of carb and how it is digested.
