Agave vs table sugar

I read on this forum that agave syrup has a lower glycemic load than table sugar so I bought some and have been enjoying it immensely in my morning coffee. But - it would appear from the label that it has as much sugar per teaspoon as table sugar does (4 grams/tsp). I'm confused now. Is agave syrup really lower on the glycemic index that regular ol' white sugar?
