Ok, so we have sugar free chocolate peanut butter cups in the cabinet and I want one. That should be ok, right? Just one piece of candy. Very Happy

Mmm, I would say wait three weeks. Today's peanut butter cup is tomorrow's bowl of ice cream, is the next day's turkey sub, etc.

This is going to be a lot easier if you allow yourself to be as perfect as possible for 3 weeks.

Watch your chocolate! Susan, help me here. You've got to be careful with chocolate and candy. Unless you specifically buy vegan chocolate, you'll get dairy. Many candies also contain gelatin - gross!! Watch your empty calories, but if you need to snack, this may help guide you. However, read the disclaimer!! You will still have to read the label on any prepared/packaged food item unless it bears the vegan symbol or states that it is vegan. You don't need empty calories. Grab a handful of walnuts, almonds, or pistachios; have a cup of fresh blueberries, strawberries, or any fruit. Edamame is also very good. Often take some to work as a snack. Thoughts, Susan?

I'm not a sweet or package snack person, so not much help, but do buy carob chips every now and then. When I feel like chips, Terra chips has several varieties. Two that I really like are the exotic originals and sweet potato. Check out Terrachips.com. Safeway has wonderful fruit sorbets that are a great addition in smoothies.

Help you? You are doing great!

I will reiterate that I would probably go for a small piece of dark, vegan chocolate to satisfy a chocolate craving.

It's amazing what things you discover when you least expect it. I became vegan 8-15-09 and just found out that wine is not necessarily vegan! Isinglass in the fining process! I don't remember what site I discovered that on, but it gave a link to barnivore.com. One baby step at a time... so many needed to truly walk the walk!

When I need a sugar fix, I eat lightly sweetened whole grain cereal with rice milk, or a frozen banana whizzed in the food processor with cacao powder, nuts, or whatever else you like in ice cream.
Recently, I don't even feel like eating vegan desserts if they don't contain healthy things in them (seems like a waste of calories)
