Temptations...
Posted Sunday, April 3, 2011 at 11:56 AM
My family went to the local Street Faire yesterday. I ate before I went, to avoid all the good smelling but bad for you foods. We started looking at all the food booths, and there was not 1 item I could order if I wanted to! While everything smelled tasty, it was so obvious to me how fatty and unhealthy the food was. I've been following the kickstart since September (for the most part!), and I just want to say thanks to the kickstart plan for opening my eyes!

I know exactly how you feel!!!! I'm finally doing something about it, see the thread titled "Veggie BBQ Burger at a Cow Town festival". If you are in central Texas (4-30) I'll save one for you! Don

It can become very obvious why America has such a weight problem. The foods readily available are truly the worst. And there is so much!

Shadowheart, Good for you to walk by all the food vendor "temptations". I went on the Mediterranean diet a few years ago. Not quite vegan, but it was a healthier approach than my previous food selections. We went to a large country fair in our area, and like you- I was overwhelmed! The smell of cooking fat laced the air...we skipped the food court entirely. Many of us need to relearn what healthy eating means. Kickstart is a great approach for a healthy lifestyle! Its wonderful you are joining us after being on the kickstart for a few months. Looking forward to hearing more input from you on what changes you are seeing now..

I've definately changed since eating a plant based diet. My daughter mostly eats plant based, but wants eggs once in a while. Today I went to buy eggs, and pictures of the chickens in crowded cages appeared to me. I couldn't do it, luckily I saw some that said free range, so I bought those. Never even thought about the animals before... Don, I'm in Texas quite often working, don't think I'll be there this month, but if I am, I'll let you know Let us know how it turns out!
