Ok-I need some help?? Suggestions?? It has now been 12 days since I started the program. I am Very tired, no energy and have not lost one pound! I feel lighter and I feel I am on the right track-definitely eating healthier. I didn't eat meat before but ate seafood. I do have hypothyroid for which I've been on meds. for 35 years. Should I be writing down what I am eating, calories & fat? And how many calories and how much fat is ok? I nee to lose about 70 lbs. Thanks.

I'm sure Susan will step in with a good answer, but I wanted to encourage you. I also have a considerable amount of weight to lose (50 lbs) and I've only lost a pound as of Monday. I'm staying focused on the long term healthy lifestyle and know eventually my body will adjust and the weight will come off.

Thank you veganintherough for your support. I guess I feel that when you have all this weight to lose and you may a big change, there would be some weight loss right at the beginning. But, yes, maybe my body is adjusting to "new" but I still would like to know if I should be counting calories & fat. Good luck on your journey. Let me know how you are progressing!

I understand you might feel frustrated. But I truly believe the weight loss will follow. You are already feeling lighter which is great. Stay focused and positive. There's a reason why weight-loss trials don't last 2 weeks, 3 weeks, or even a month. It takes months to see and understand the significance of an overall trend.

Also, take heart in that what you are eating is 100 percent good for you. Although you may not be seeing the results you want on the scale, what's going on "under the hood" is nothing but glorious. I'm sure if they could, your blood vessels and digestive tract would thank you.

Thanks Susan! I do believe it is all a process and I know I am doing the right thing. Would it help if I counted my calories & fat?

Don't worry about counting calories. If you think you are eating too much added fats, then that is worth tallying.

Added oils? Nuts? Seeds? Avocadoes? Processed foods with added fats? Alcohol? Sweets?

Those are the foods I would measure and probably eliminate if you are not seeing the weight loss you want.

How much good fat should you have a day if you are trying to lose weight and still be healthy?

Fat found naturally in the whole plant foods is all the "good" fat you need. You need about 10 percent of your calories from fat. For most of us, that's about 20 to 30 grams per day.

Weight loss and getting healthier is my focus with the challenge. As a 15 year vegetarian, I participated in the Vegan challenge to finally transition to veganism and accelerate my weight loss efforts.

What else is everyone doing to trim down while on the challenge? I must say that the challenge has really helped to accelerate my efforts. I'm down 53 lbs now and I have about 25 more lbs to lose. Are you guys exercising in addition to the lifestyle change with the new diet?

I have 70 pounds to lose. I have been doing this for 15 days now and I feel absolutely wonderful. I have lost 5 pounds. I take vitamins everyday and have found that the recipes are so easy to follow. I struggled to be vegetarian, but being vegan is so easy. I strayed one evening and had sushi. It didn't even taste that good. (I ended up eating all of the ginger, though.) Whether the weight comes off fast or slow I am committed to this for life. My oldest sister is dying of a rare form of cancer that is a metathesis of fat cells. That has spurred me onto a healthy, vegan life.
