what are you hoping to get out of this???

for me i completed the January kickstart and have been vegan ever since. i dont see myself going back to eating dairy.

for this one i think i want to try and refine my diet a little. i didnt realize til i watched the PBS special that one of hte things Dr Barnard talks about alot is eating less oils. im not too bad on that but i do cook with a lot of olive oil.
ive also discovered vegan baking so i need to stop eating so many treats.

basically i want to lose more weight

Quite simply: Change. Change is my goal for this Kickstart! Smile I want to see the changes that I've been reading/hearing about for a long time now. And I agree, losing weight is a top priority as well.

I'm going to do a half-marathon at the end of May. Goal is 13.1 miles in 1:45.

I want to keep losing weight (this is my third kickstart, but I've been at it now without getting off track since Jan.). Secondly, since I just had bloodwork done, I want to lower my triglycerides and raise my good cholesterol. Good luck to everyone!

Following a vegan diet makes me feel happy and healthy. I registed for the 21 Day Kickstart to incorporate new recipes and ideas into my already vegan diet. I was also hoping to get some family members on board! My husband refuses to try a vegan diet, but he did decide to try a vegetarian diet for a month beginning 4/1. It's a step in the right direction! Smile

My goal is to be healthy, be more active and a good role model for family. I also want to be rid of blood pressure meds which I have already noticed my blood pressure is going down.

My goal is weight loss. I also want to see how I feel after a few weeks. I am curious on if my energy levels will increase and stay increased. I know everyone says they will but I want to feel it for myself.

My goal is to start trying to eat healthier and really cut out how much sugar/sweetness I have in my current diet. Hi! My name is Kelly and I am a sugar addict. I would also love to lose 5 pounds, but that is secondary to feeling healthier.

I want to get as healthy as I can, to help prevent any potential illness that could be avoided by eating healthy and exercise. And to help my family achieve the same.

I have several friends fighting cancer right now, and I wanted to see how easy/hard it was to switch to this way of eating, before I started suggesting they try to change their diets.

I would like to be healthier, too. I am significantly overweight. And pretty out of shape. I have been a vegetarian for about 17 years or so, but I ate a lot of cheese and ice cream until recently when I became lactose intolerant. I didn't know one could become lactose intolerant as an adult, but I guess you can. I have also had osteoarthritis for many years and just feel that as I am getting older, I don't have the energy I did when I was younger. So I'd like to gain more energy, flexibility, strength, and just be healthier overall as I age, so that I don't end up stuck in a wheelchair or something. I know some older people who run around like they are in their 30's or 40's and some who can barely move at all. I'd rather be in the former group, and I feel that I'd better start now.

My goal is to clean up my diet and gain back the energy I had a few years ago. A large part of that energy gain is probably going to come from getting rid of excess weight and eliminating my sugar dependency.

Great question -

For me the goals are:

To refine my vegan diet that I began in January such as - less processed foods, lower fat, increased fibre, better food choices when eating out.

To loose weight

Improve health overall

wow that is pretty much exactly the same as me. i starting getting really sick around age 27 and had all sorts of tests done and finally my husband diagnosed me as lactose intolerant. Rolling Eyes thats all it was you think the Dr could have figured that one out

I want to stick with it for the entire 21 days without getting off track and would also like to lose some weight in the bargain.

Due to new heart issues that scared me, I wanted to take drastic measures to prevent the DRASTIC MEASURES that the doctor would like me to do. I told him no, that I was going to try this first. Luckily, I don't have any IMMEDIATE problems. I have high cholestrol, high blood pressure, I am overweight and now have a partial narrowing in the main artery that they call the "Widowmaker". UG!! But, so far, so good.

Oddly, my diet was not too bad before. I never ate at fast food places and quit eating beef years ago, but I do like my chips and ice cream, so I guess my little cheats caught up with me.

My goal is to get SUPER healthy. To not have a heart attack and to get off all my meds.

I have to force myself to eat all the food because I do know you have to eat to burn the fat!!

I AM SO EXCITED!! Razz

I want to get off all the meds I'm on - metformin (for PCOS), arthritis meds, high BP meds, water pill, cholesterol meds (which I'm refusing to take now) and if I don't get things under control a thyroid medication. I'm 56 and want to start feeling better, lose some weight and be able to walk without hurting and, yes, not end up in a wheelchair.

My goal is to be HEALTHY and get to a healthy weight.

I LOVE eating this way but when my kids are home from college I slip back into poor eating habits, usually baking them treats and having lots of bread. If my son is home then cheese enters the fridge and my recipes once again. I'd like to get deeply rooted in this way of eating and not sway from it at the slightest opportunity.

I'm 25 years old, 5'4", and 200 pounds. I've recently become very intrigued by a vegan diet after reading In Defense of Food and The Kind Diet. I've been off and on vegetarian for about a year and vegan off and on for the past couple of months. I'm excited to commit to this for these 21 days so I can be in the habit and stick to it! I'm still young (even though I don't always feel like it!) and I have time to change myself, my weight, and my health before it's too late!

My biggest goal for this kickstart is changing my eating habits. Ultimately, weight loss will be my focus, but that won't happen unless I make the basic changes first!

My goal is to get more comfortably and solidly set in a healthy vegan diet, so that it is not such a struggle to avoid the unhealthy stuff I've eaten previously. I've been trying off and on for the last three and a half years or so to switch to a healthy plant-based diet, since I took a Cancer Project nutrition and cooking class (I highly recommend them if there's one in your area. It's helped me enormously by providing face-to-face information and support, and giving wimpy me a way to try foods before I spend the money to try making them. Here's the link http://www.cancerproject.org/resources/cooking_class.cfm In fact, that's my class pictured! Smile You can see my mom at the way back.)

Anyway, I've been trying for a while, and making slow progress. Still, progress nonetheless. Smile It's finally beginning to sink in, though, I think partly because I'm beginning to feel the changes in my body that come with pre-diabetes and obesity and passing time. Apparently, I'm not immune to all that stuff I swore I'd never deal with! So I'm here to really make the switch, once and for all. I'm kind of shy on messageboards, but I'm going to make an effort to pop in here regardless, because I think the support of talking with other people will help.

SO. My overall goal: to lose weight, get safely out of pre-diabetic range, to feel healthy and beautiful and strong.

Hi, everyone. Smile
