Frozen bananas

Does anyone know how long you can freeze ripe bananas? Is there any special technique on how to freeze them (i.e. saran wrap, individually, etc.)?

I freeze them individually in Ziplock freezer bags. They get used in smoothies long before I have to worry about the length of time they are frozen.

I'm not a big smoothie drinker and really only use frozen bananas in banana bread, so I just freeze them in their skins, in a big Ziploc bag. When they defrost, they're perfect for banana bread or muffins. Smile If you're using them for smoothies, though, I would take the skins off before freezing because it's next to impossible to get the skin off a frozen banana.

I chunk them for an easy drop into the Vitamix or blender, and a quick thaw for bread etc.

How long? To be honest, I've had some chunks I forgot about in the freezer a year later and they work great. Frozen fruit can stay frozen "forever".
