Veggie rolls and seaweed!
Posted Saturday, September 18, 2010 at 1:08 AM

Ok, so we went out for Japanese food tonight. I had edemame, veggie rolls and tofu on a bed of greens.
Tofu was not part of the suggested menu, but this is what I wanted.
I had never had the veggie rolls before and will not have them again. Yuck, what was I thinking. I hate seaweed. Just too fishy tasting. Eeewwwwww.....

Anyone else agree?

Just asking...

I've had veggie rolls of several types, and loved them. Maybe it depends on the restaurant, or your tastes...? My favorite were asparagus rolls, because the asparagus was just lightly blanched, so it was still crispy. Delicious!

Actually, I've learned to love seaweed. An aboriginal gal I work with introduced me to a dish she makes with brown rice, sauteed onions and dried seaweed. It was really good...the seaweed adds just enough salty taste you don't need soy sauce or anything else.

I believe seaweed is chock full of goodness, too. (she gathers and dries her own seaweed but you can buy it packaged in most grocery stores I think)

I used to hate it but now I love it. I tried it about 12 years ago, didn't have it for 11 years and then just started eating it 6 months ago. Veggie sushi is a once a week treat for me most weeks.
