Vegan, Organic, Fresh, Delicious and Cheap!

Oh, and good for you, too! I know some people feel they can't afford to live a vegan lifestyle (earlier thread) but it does not have to be expensive.
Believe me, I'm not rich, but everyone can grow sprouts in a windowsill. A bag of seed is less than $2.00. Alfalfa sprouts, lentils, adzuki beans, all fresh at your fingertips, awesome in sandwiches, on salads, or just snip and run!
If you're lucky enough to start a garden in the spring- even a patio pot tomato or two, maybe sprinkle some lettuce seed in another pot- you can eat the freshest and best produce by far and save a ton of money in the process.
Of course, that's just one of the reasons to be vegan!

I agree! It's really easy to grow sprouts and also things like lettuce, radishes, and green onions (basically just plant the seeds and water and they do everything else on their own). All three of those things can be grown in a pot as well as patio tomatoes and pepper plants. We even had a neighbor years ago when we were still living in an apartment who grew an eggplant in a pot, but she had full sun on her patio.

Thanks for the reminder about sprouting! My jars are up in a cabinet somewhere. I see some mung sprouts in my near future. Smile
