My 4 year olds dinner request for tonight.
Posted Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at 8:21 PM
LOL! I just made my 4 year old (at his request!) a green smoothie. He wanted, "...a pear, spinach, and Strawberries and that’s it!" This was right before he asked for pancakes w/applesauce for dinner. Let me think, almost 2 c of fresh greens, 1/2 a pear, 4 huge fresh strawberries from the grower down the street and a buckwheat pancake w/applesauce..."YOU BET YOU CAN!!!!!!!!!!!"

That gives me hope...my son is 5 months old and I and I am hoping he can be vegan like me...the only problem is is dad....meat lover...the real problem I think we all face is the ignorance and ancient ideas about protein sources....I am getting speeches all the time that I will end up protein deficient...I hate that most...but back to the topic at hand.,..I think what you are doing is great!!!

I love that! My parents and mother-in-law still comment every time they visit that they can't believe my kids will eat things like broccoli and asparagus (my kids are 3 and 4). Personally, I think it's all in how you feed them when you first start giving them solids - plus eating healthy foods yourself. I can't count how many foods we've gotten our kids to eat just because we eat them all the time ourselves.

@natcristo don't worry too much I am the only vegan at home but with the january kickstart they all wanted to eat my food - it was more colourful, more inventive and yes more tasty. At the end of it everyone was eating my stuff and I have been given the job of feeding the whole (meat loving) bunch of them as of February with healthy foods. They requested that I do some meat for them once a week (they aren't going vegan you know!) so I agreed to do that for them. I figure eventually even that won't be so important any more and then we'll all be happy healthy vegans.
