"Perils of Dairy" video

If you haven't yet had a chance to watch this one, now's the time!

Perils of Dairy

It's over an hour in length, so set aside the time. Well worth it. If you've been on the fence about dairy or needing reinforcements at this point in your kickstart, it could be just the ticket!

To your health and success,

Hi Lani,
This doc mentions the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition as a great source of information, so i found it on the web.
In the July 2010 issue they stated there were 2 independent studies that suggested dairy food may be associated w/a lower risk of cardic disease. Specifically they were looking a WHOLE milk.

Still doesn't mean I will drink it. But this is where information is conflicting and confusing.

They did say independent studies.. i don't know if they were independent from each other or independent from the dairy association.

will go back and check who paid for the studies.. if i have access without paying. AJCN is not cheap.

Hey cch22,

I sure wish the AJCN were all open access for all - I like to dig around in the official reports as you do as reading between the lines can tell you a lot as well!

And the thing about research is, as always, when working with humans it can be so difficult to isolate the variables. For example, the huge campaign in recent years pushing dairy as being helpful in weight loss it is found that the subjects were put on a weight loss (calorie deficit) diet that just happened to include dairy products as well. The subjects lost weight, but does that mean it was due to the dairy or....

Thanks for posting your thoughts!

Hi Lani - thanks for posting this! I just watched it and found it very compelling to say the least. The fact that Dr. MacDougall is suing the pants off the American Heart Assoc. for spreading false information speaks to his belief that we are being led down the garden path. I'll be passing the link on to my children as well as a friend who suffers from arthritis but also other "male" issues....

There was a lot of information to absorb in that one hour video so I may very well have missed points, but my question is this: when Dr. MacDougall was speaking about how we absorb calcium - and it's not through our intestinal wall! - I couldn't help but wonder why soy/rice/almond milks are fortified with calcium if we can't absorb it that way anyway.

Cheers!
