Vegan Crave

For the first time in my life I felt a massive crave for dark green cabbage today - will be fulfilled this evening Smile

Anyone else had a healthy craving?

This is my DH 1st venture into Veganism - I was Vegan for around 10 yrs about 4 yrs ago. And HE was the 1st with the healthy craving!
He came home yesterday with apples, sprouts and a BAG of avocados!

Now he's got ME craving an avocado "NBLT" (not-bacon, lettuce & tomato)...... well, it's not-lettuce, either... I use the sprouts. I get the grainiest bread I can find (like with whole seeds and stuff!), veganaise, a sprinkle of curry (yes! curry!) a grind or three of black pepper, then pile on veggie bacon (the kind that cooks up crunchy), sprouts (serious pile!), and avocado slices. Then I pop it in the sandwich maker/Foreman grill. If I'm not being lazy, I'll make garlic "butter" (Earth Balance) and spread a little on the outside of the bread!

Cooked oatmeal, with cinnamon, blueberries, raisins, and dried craniberries.

Oh, I have crazy cabbage cravings...and I noticed they were linked to my hormonal cycles.

Then I learned cabbage has a substance (IC3, an indole) that improves estrogen detoxification (the way it's metabolized in your body), so it all made sense. Now I make sure to get lots--bok choy and other varieties of cruciferous veggies too. I also love sauerkraut but have stopped eating that so much because of the salt--I simmer some fresh cabbage in diluted apple cider vinegar instead.

Amazing what our bodies know, ain't it? Smile
