I am a vegan, but I enjoy my wine, is this acceptable on the kickstart program?

Also, it depends on other health issues and why you are on the kickstart - weight loss, diabetes management, conscience, etc. For instance, alcohol can increase triglyceride levels so if that's an issue, wine might not be the best choice. --Deb R

Yeah, I agree that it depends on why you're doing the Kickstart. If you feel you do want to have wine (or other alcohol), check out www.barnivore.com for a list of vegan wines, beers and liquors.

I am a 'nutritional' vegan and a 42 year old mother of 4...there is nothing that will get between me and my glass of wine! LOL!

It's in the processing stages - there's more to wine than stomped grapes. Different processes use different things to get the characteristic flavors and such. Just like sugar - it's made from sugar cane or beets, they're plants thus it should be vegan yet the way it is processed often includes bone char (burned and ground animal bones). So, not vegan.--Deb R

I did not know that in the process that some wines become non-vegan. Thanks for the enlightenment. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vegetarianism_and_wine
