Nutrition MD

does anyone else have the same problem i do???

I have a hard time with the search engine on nutrition md.. for instance just try putting in black bean.. nothing comes up together..

it does tell you how many hits on black and how many hits on bean.. but even that is not helpful because you can't click on them.

god forbid you put in black bean burrito.. or spell something wrong.

I am making a fuss because i would consider this a number one place for recipes if the search was more user friendly and produced better results.

I would also like to see comments after the recipes!
PLEASE....

YES, I have had the same problem. Luckily, early on in using those recipes, I searched for one which I knew was there, so when it didn't come up I knew there was a problem and didn't give up. I tried a google search for "the recipe name"+nutritionmd and it comes up at the top of the list every time. It is a good idea that PCRM hears about this so I am glad you brought it up.

Use the Advanced Search - it works way better than the regular search. I did a search on black bean and didn't get any hits in the regular search, did a search in the Advanced Search (again, just searching on black bean) and got a BUNCH of results, all clickable to recipes. Another thing you might need to check - when you click on the result link for something, it pops up in another browser window. So, if you have pop ups turned off, you'll just get that yellow bar in the browser saying it blocked a pop up.

I tried allowing pop-ups and the search is better but still too complicated for many. If I am looking for a specific recipe, google works better than the site itself. NutritionMD maybe could take a look at it. Could it be a problem with macintosh? I tried three browsers with the same results.

I apologize for NutritionMD's search function. It is indeed poor. It's also not on our server so we will continue working on that challenge with an outside company. In the meantime, as mentioned, the advanced function works better. Also, I often go through Google to find recipes on NutritionMD. For example, if I am looking for a recipe that uses lentils, I will go to Google and type "site:nutritionmd.org lentils". You will get every page on NutritionMD that mentions "lentils". This is a great computer trick in general. If I want to find any article in the New York Times's website that mentions fish, I will go to Google and type "site:nytimes.com fish".

I hope that helps.

It could definitely be a mac thing and/or a browser thing. Some websites are just not designed to handle certain things - for instance, many are designed to run correctly ONLY on IE7 and may not handle any other browser.
