Major food allergies!

Hello Vegan Kickstart Team,

First of all! I'm loving the program! The emails, videos and phone call reminders are GREAT!

My dilemma: I have major food allergies, and would love your advice.

My question: Would it be okay to take Mediclear Plus by Thorne Research. Base: Brown and White Rice Protein, it does have 400 IU Vitamin D3(not vegan). I was taking it prior to Kickstart Program, and felt wonderful.

Recommended for inflammation, food allergies, and gastrointestinal issues.

I've been eating fruit and nuts for breakfast. Lunch: Steamed veggies, quinoa and Parma!. Dinner: Veggie soup. I'm always hungry, and have lack of energy.I'm afraid to eat beans, because of being allergic to Lima Beans. I've been omitting the garlic from all the recipes, but I sure miss my garlic.

How can I better balance my nutritional intake? Am I still having a balance diet if I'm not eating legumes, beans and tofu?

Food Allergies:
This is my high range category: Garlic, Soy, and Lima Beans.

Medium range:Almonds, Wheat Gluten, Lettuce, Oats, Peanuts, Spinach, Rye, Spelt, and Sugar Cane.

seems like you're low on protein in there. quinoa and nuts are fine but it's hard to eat enough of either (since they are both quite filling) to get a full supply of protein. And, low protein can definitely cause tiredness. You'd probably need to check with one of the pros as to how to work around the allergies. I think the info on the Power Plate also has info on working around allergies.

Before I found out I had Celiac, I had what I thought were food allergies/sensitivities also. After I eliminated ALL gluten and wheat, I was able to reintroduce slowly many foods.

Food sensitivities/allergies are a hard one to work around. I would suggest if you don't have known issues with other beans, to try 1 in a small quantity and see your reaction, you may find you can add some to your diet.

Quinoa and rice also make pasta, so that could be added as a source of protein, but remember even our veggies and such have protein. Wait for the experts for the best advice and I wish you well!

I'd hate for you not to eat beans because you are afraid of lima beans. Have you tested other beans? Maybe red lentils cooked into a mash (dahl) would be okay on your gut.

The truth is you can get enough protein without eating beans. But I agree with the above comment - it doesn't sound like you are getting enough calories, and that's the real problem. Perhaps adding more fruits throughout the day would help. And of course MORE of the grains and vegetables. Whatever does work well for you - eat more of it.

If you can tolerate a variety of fruits and a beverage such as hemp milk or rice milk, I would throw that in a blender at least once a day. It's a lot easier to drink your calories than eat them.
