Hungry!!! Help pls.

Hi everyone,

I am trying my best to follow each day. Today being day 6 I made the pancakes, but did not eat the facon bacon. I ate only two pancakes. I did not have the buckwheat flour and used white (ick) flower. I was starving by lunch time!!! I had ate my veggie taco (2) and scarfed down some chips and salsa. Is anyone else very, very hungry? I am not usually so hungry that I literally stuff my face.

I have been a vegetarian for decades so this is not really that difficult of a plan to follow. (just thought I would throw that comment in)

Help some one, anyone!! Sad

I really never get hungry. Actually I should say I don't let myself get overly hungry. I eat lots of fruits and veggies and beans. I do try to limit the grains, but that's just me. If you are hungry, eat something. Veggies and beans you can eat just about all you want.

The white flour in your pancakes may have been contributory. I know when I eat white pasta, which I try not to do very often, it's like I am crazy hungry 2 hours later. When I eat whole wheat pasta, doesn't happen. I don't know why, I'm sure there's a reason, I just know - don't eat white wheat, or really any white foods.

I am not hungry at all...I make sure to eat carbs...basmati rice, Beans..I dont really follow the 21 vegan menu..
for dinner I had rice pasta with roasted red pepper sauce and spinach salad with cucumber Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar...I am full...
I would be happy to share my recipes with you if you wanted Cool dont get discouraged...instead get creative...

Try to get the whole grain in the morning, because protein satisfies you and prevents hunger.

Even with buckwheat flour, each pancake is 55 calories. You could eat all six pancakes for 330 calories - that is not unreasonable for breakfast!

I like quinoa flour in my pancakes - it is near perfect protein - Wikipedia entry for quinoa states:

Its protein content is very high (12%–18%), making it a healthy choice for vegetarians and vegans. Unlike wheat or rice (which are low in lysine), quinoa contains a balanced set of essential amino acids for humans, making it an unusually complete protein source.[4] It is a good source of dietary fiber and phosphorus and is high in magnesium and iron. Quinoa is gluten-free and considered easy to digest.

Perhaps the problem is that you are trying to eat ONLY what is on the menu plan. I look at the menu plan as just ideas and recipes, but not a limitation. As the others have stated, I add plenty of additional veggies, fruits, grains and beans in order to be comfortable and satisfied. And, by the way, my weight is dropping since I started on Monday!

Thank you all for the support.
I looked back at the suggested meals and I was not eating enough. I think it was the white (yuck) flour I ate. I do so much better not eating white foods.

Thanks again....I am doing better after I ate dinner tonight.

Do you eat fruit or veggies when you are hungry? I think what you need to do is, if you are hungry, reach for fruit. That's what I do.
But...do you drink lots of water? Sometimes we mistake thirst for hunger. Drink lots of water and if you are still hungry, eat fruit between meals. I hope this helps.

LisaW makes a good point about water. I try to drink at least 100 ounces of water a day. I have noticed if I wake up in the morning hungry a big glass of water makes it go away.

I'm lucky to have a Costco right down the road. I get the shelled walnuts, raw almonds, and pistachios, each bag around 3 lbs. I make the pistachios a treat rather than a daily thing, since they are salted. I also like the dried apricots, but lots of dried fruit choices and mixes available. I always check the cool produce room for blueberries and strawberries. These all make good, quick snacks and really take the edge off if you start to feel hungry, plus they're good food.
