The Movies
Posted Sunday, March 7, 2010 at 7:18 AM
Good morning, all! I skipped lunch and went to a matinee yesterday and was STARVING! I wound up asking DH to stop by a grocery store before the movie, and I grabbed some Newman's Own pretzels and a bottle of organic juice to sneak in with me (I am such a rebel!). I was wondering what all of you do when you go to the movies. I know that movie theaters in other areas will provide some healthier snacks- like fresh fruit, etc.- but that kind of thing just doesn't fly around here. Trust me!

I always take my own water, pretty much every where I go. Sometimes I take Snyder's Organic Oat Bran Pretzels, Larabar, soy nuts. I've even been know to take my own popcorn (requires a pretty good sized purse.)

I have NEVER seen a movie theater that had anything other than water that could make the cut as healthy, LOL! We take in water and sometimes fruit or something like that. But I’m not one to die w/o snacks at the movies. My BFF however…

I like bringing a cup of tea, either a jasmine or herbal. My travel stainless steel coffee mug seals up pretty tight.

Hmmm... I was really hoping someone would tell me that the popcorn was magically vegan (DH bought a bag and ate it right next to me, and it smelled so good I wanted to cry), but I just have to say I love how gutsy we all are- breaking the rules! We're snack bandits!

Isn't popcorn with just the salt vegan? Cottonseed oil is vegan too, and I'm pretty sure that the oil and corn are both genetically engineered.

You can buy organic popcorn and it's not GMO. Pop it with a tiny bit of canola oil, a little sea salt, or mineral salt, or nutritional yeast, or Parma! YUM!

hi all. I am a popcorn freak and I know that the popcorn in movies has butter added to the oil and tons of salt. PLEASE do not eat it unless you want all that clogging stuff in your veins in no time. I have popped my own and used earth balance or a squeeze of lime juice and Tabasco! Hey, don't knock it unless you've tried it. Newman's Own pop corn, without butter and only some salt is what I use. I have taken in carrots, apples and my own water before too. The movies around here are mixed. Some let you take food in others do not. I think if I get caught I'll tell them that they have no Vegan options but water. When they have something vegan then I'll stop bring my own.
