I'm wondering what's the best substitute for creamer in my coffee? I used my hemp milk this morning and, maybe it's the color, but I think there must be a better choice!

Good question. I used a little regular half/half. I have used coconut milk, not bad but not creamy enough for me. Almond milk wasn't much better and soy is just too sour for me. I can do no sugar in my coffee, but I must have my cream...what to do....

I have been using the silk in the red box. The color doesn't change much. I've gotten used to it because I used to be a huge international delight very light brown colored coffee girl. I would guess I used to drink easily 3/4 of a cup of that junk every day. It's not even cream... Finally got off that and switched to evaporated milk but then went vegan so eventually I gave up coffee with Kathy Freston's cleanse, but have gotten back into it, but decaf and only drink maybe 1 cup a day, but just a splash of silk does work for me. Can't go completely black, but I think eventually I will ditch coffee altogether again for good. I actually am getting sick of the taste.. Sorry this ended up being really long...

I use unsweetened almond milk for all of my 'milk' needs, but not for coffee! Haha. For coffee, I need something creamier, and I've found that plain Silk (yep, the red box) or the Vanilla Silk are the ones I like the most. The calories are higher, but I'm not using a whole lot, so it's not too bad. And they taste really good. Smile

Several options on the non-dairy creamer - without resorting to coffeemate which is not non-dairy after all!

Soy creamers, such as those carried by TJ's, just can't seem to shake the beany overtones and never quite cut it for me.

So Delicious is the alternative based on coconut milk with French Vanilla, Hazelnut, and Plain alternatives. no beanies.

Almond milk can be too watery (face it, part of the 'cream' factor is the 'creamy'). Yet on occasion the chocolate almond milk can make a nice mocha effect.

I just this week found Mimicreme, made with almond and cashew. Thick and sweet.

Truth be told, half and half was the last dairy to go for me. I'd cut it out and then we were in Hawaii and a little cream in my Kona sounded so good. I was hooked for another 2 years! That was over 2 years ago, when I cut the dairy for good and never looked back. Best solution is to just get really good coffee and go for black. (I know!)

One day I went and bought all the soy, rice, almond and oat milk I could. I did my own taste test. I don't like sweet drinks of any kind so I knew that I would not like any that had any kind of sweetness. I found out that
"Westsoy Organic Unsweetened Soymilk" fit! I is creamy and no other stuff added. Filtered water and whole organic soy beans. I get my added vits from the rice milk I use on my cereal and baking.
good luck. It can take awhile to find one you like. Smile

I love the Silk Creamer French Vanilla! And I don't like flavored coffee but I am hooked on that! Love my coffee in the morning!

Does anyone know of a nondairy creamer that does NOT contain carageenan? Ideally one with a vanilla flavor.

Thanks!

The Westsoy brand has a vanilla flavored soy milk but not sure if it has everap. cane juice but I don't think they have any other additives.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm gonna try a few. I can't give up my coffee yet. Maybe eventually I can drink it black. It is very good coffee - fair trade from Cafe Campesino - that I used to sell in my coffee shop - so maybe I'll get there. Creamer will likely be the hardest animal product to forego.

I appreciate all the input!

Thanks, Aleta, for the WestSoy recommendation. I'll check it out!
