Can you please give an example of the cereals you are suggesting for breakfast? many thanks.

For cold cereals, I would choose one that has high fiber (6 grams or more per serving) and whole ingredients as opposed to overly processed. I really like Kashi's Seven Whole Grain Cereal. They remind me of Grape Nuts.

Steel cut oats.
Kashi 7 Grain Pilaf.
Quaker Multi Grain Hot Cereal.
Hulless Barley
Whole Wheat couscous
Quinoa - usually mix it with the barley or 7 grain pilaf.

I've never been much on cold cereal because I NEVER drank milk (can you say yuck?) But some of the Kashi cold cereals are pretty good, I've eaten them like snack foods.

Kashi Go Lean
Kashi Go Lean Crunch (pretty high in sugar)
Kashi Cinnamon Harvest (also high in sugar)

There's others but these are the only ones I've tried.

That sounds really really good cch22!

I also still love the hot Quinoa with raisons & apricots I learned about here at PCRM on a kickstart. That is so good it is sometimes a snack/dessert instead of breakfeast!

Fiber One has a cinnamon O cereal that is >5 grams fiber and fairly low in carbs (less than many other cereals). That's the "breakfast treat" option (I use plain unsweetened almond milk with it). I also eat oatmeal for breakfast regularly (a little cinnamon, raisins, drizzle of almond milk - okay I'm weird, I cook my oatmeal thick then add plant milk to thin it back again LOL).

My son likes breakfast rice pudding type things - or sometimes he'll just mix cream cheese with cold rice and eat that (he's 12 and a veg-loving omnivore).

I had a roomie that loved millet for breakfast. I haven't had that in a while - it was usually too heavy for me (heavier than oatmeal and that's saying something!)

I tend to prefer no-thinking minimal prep breakfasts because I'm not awake first thing. So, I just do the same thing most days (weekends are different because I don't have to go to work!) Hubby often makes buckwheat pancakes for weekend mornings - leftover pancakes make great "bread" for a breakfast sandwich on another day - spread jam or other favorite spread between two cold pancakes and you've got a quick to go meal or snack.
