Cookbooks

HI..
I got a cookbook for my birthday.. Vegetarian Cooking & Vegetable Classics by Roz Denny. Most recipes can be made vegan. The nice thing about this cookbook is for every recipe there is a full color photo.. and directions w/photos too. Makes a pretty book.

Another that i want to purchase, and i did purchase for my library, (i'm the director) is veganomicon. On Amazon there are 55 pictures of food that people have made. They look yummy. My vegetarian patron suggested this as her favorite author because they are vegan recipes from the ground up, not regular recipes made vegan. I can't wait to see the book; the pics on Amazon look like ones i could get excited about.

These sound like great resources. I will check them out. Another recipe book that you may want to consider is Simply Vegan by Debra Wasserman. It has helped me quite a bit.

I've had Roz Denny's Ultimate Vegetarian Cookbook for over 10 years now and I still use it all the time.

Veganomicon is my favorite cookbook ever! I probably make a recipe from it twice a week. If you really want to explore vegan cooking, it's the book to use. It's seriously the Joy of Cooking for the vegan world.

I haven't tried any of their desserts yet, but it's supposed to rain all weekend and I told myself yesterday that I'd spend some time trying my hand at vegan baking.

Terry Hope Romero, co-author of Veganomicon, has a new Latin cookbook out called Viva Vegan - I'm going to see if I can find it this weekend.

I love the Veganomicon and Vegan Brunch. I just got Viva Vegan and Vegan Cookies Invade Your Cookie Jar, but haven't had a chance to try anything from them yet. I've been working 50 hour weeks, but figured I'd get into them as soon as I get my kitchen clean again.

The one thing about them is that they're not necessarily low-fat. Isa does have a lowfat book coming out in December - Appetite for Reduction: 125 Fast and Filling Low-Fat Vegan Recipes.

I got so excited I already pre-ordered it. Smile

My current favorite is the Cancer Project's (PCRM) Cancer Survivor's Guide. The recipes are SO GOOD! Smile

I also really like Vegan Planet, though I remove the fat from the recipes.

Sometimes I do, but I'm not a very good cook so the recipes don't always turn out well when I deviate. Embarassed That's why I'm so excited about the new one!

BTW, I was really happy to see that the Vegan Cookies book has a chapter devoted to more wholesome varieties. Surprised
