I had oatmeal, raisins, flaxseed, hemp hearts, a dollop of unsweetened apple sauce and a dash of cinnamon - all mixed together in one lovely bowl of yum!

We had old fashioned oatmeal with cinnamon, raisins, blueberries and unsweetened applesauce. Yum! My son loved it so much, he wanted to eat another bowl (he ate too fast, I think, because he was really full a few minutes later :lol .

Hi, your breakfast descriptions make me hungry! 4/5 enjoy oatmeal. @ eggplant, do you mean maple syrup? Never tried it that way - that sounds good! @ Mariberry, what are hemp hearts? Yours sounds high protein! @ babalonia, that sounds good! What brand of cashew butter? Did you make the rice milk latte yourself? @ mommyof2nc, another one who puts applesauce on oatmeal - I have to try it! Is it instead of a splash of vegan milk?

I found a hot cereal called Mother's Oatbran hot cereal. I cook it with water for the specified 1 minutes. I ate it with almond milk, some raisins, pure maple syrup and added butter flavoring. It is very good and fills me up. Black Decaf Coffee Low sugar O.J.

Guess I will chime in - it is fun to hear what others are doing - no doubt. First, I also have not heard of hemp hearts. As for breakfast I had oatmeal with blueberries, walnuts and cinnamon and black coffee. I used the last of my blueberries frozen from last summer - bummer! I will freeze more this year.
For my 3:00 break this afternoon I had a Mineola and made myself a cup of green tea - I was surprised that it tasted like lemon then realized I had chosen a tea bage w/greentea and lemon duh! Not bad tasting. Have a stellar evening everyone.

I really just do it because it's a healthier way to sweeten the oatmeal for my kids (healthier than maple syrup, too - I use unsweetened applesauce), it cools it down a little faster so they can eat it, plus it gives them an extra fruit serving. I've never put milk on oatmeal but will probably try that one day, just to see if I like it.

Louise - hemp hearts are just finely chopped shelled hemp seeds. They look like little hearts. According to the container, hemp hearts are: - an excellent source of protein - an excellent source of Omega 3, 6 & 9 (contains more Omega 3 than any fish source) - good source of fibre One drawback is they are fairly hefty in fat so I don't use more than a tablespoon or two (one on my oatmeal in the morning, and sometimes one on a salad) a day.
