Side effects??
Posted Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 12:58 PM

Felt great till today. I have a headache, feel tired and bloated. Is all this normal? A part of the change in diet. usually I can run through a day. I dont even have the energy to work out today. Any other feedback would be great.

Hi there,
Yes, what you're feeling is totally normal. Some people call it the "detox flu" or other such names. It's basically your body's response to the diet change. Your immune system is now getting all the nutrients it needs to function, so it has the chance to get out all the crud that's been backed up inside you. When I quit sugar and white flour, I was sick for about 2 weeks, but then came back feeling amazing! I felt clear-headed, more energetic, more able to do everything I wanted to do. Smile

yes. those can be side effects as you are adjusting. Make sure that you're getting plenty of water (non-carbonated, non-caffeinated beverages). Also, you might scale back on fiber slightly for a couple days - if you're not used to it, it can cause digestive discomfort.

Hang in there. The symptoms should clear up and you'll feel right as rain again - and maybe even better!

What kind of workout do you do? You might try something light and short...short walk,a restorative yoga session or some stretching.

Yep, I would go with something a bit more laid back til you are feeling better. You still want to move, just don't do a puke-in-a-bucket workout.
