What happens at the end of the 21 days?
Posted Friday, September 24, 2010 at 8:18 PM
I was just wondering what happens at the end of 21 days. Will this website disappear? Are ther any other places where we can find daily meal plana? I really like having the meals planned out. It makes it so much easier (for me anyway) than trying to figure out what to make with what. Recommendations appreciated!

I'm not happy the 21 days is up soon! We just stopped having bloat and stomache pains, now is when I could really use another 21 days of meals planned out, so I went into the prior kickstarts and copied some of those meals. Very happy we started this plan, wish it was longer, I'm not ready to be on my own *L*

This conversation has come up on every quick start I have been on, I think this is my 4th. I wish they would do a 21 day kickstart, and then extend it into a 90 day follow up. The threads will continue to be available but without the daily emails, meal plans, etc - people start to fall out and not check in as often. There is a web site called SparkPeople.com that I really like. It's all about health and wellness, weigh loss, etc. You can join teams. There are several vegan teams. I am Wild4Stars on SparkPeople.com also. They won't send you meal plans and recipes, but they are there to find and there is lots of support from your team members once you join the teams. I am Team Leader of the "Eat To Live" Team and the "Vegetarian / Vegan Seniors" Team. Check it out, it's fun, you earn points, make friends, find recipes, create a Spark Page, post blogs, whatever you want to do.

I'll have to check out the other Kickstart dates to see what I can find. I agree, Shadowheart, I feel like I need a little more direction as to what to do now. I really love the weekly meal plans. Trying to plan three meals a day has always been my downfall. It would be great to have MANY suggested meal for the day.

Yes! Finally, the bloating has passed. That is good news and reason to celebrate. Alas, it's true. The 21-Day Kickstart website closes up after 21 days. It really is designed to get people started on a healthful diet. However, all of our other sites are designed to provide information on how to maintain that lifestyle everyday for the rest of time! We have lots of information about planning your own menus, grocery lists, recipes, and meal ideas on NutritionMD.org. We discuss nutrition considerations for disease states on that site as well. Our main website addresses so many issues and questions that have come up before like soy, protein, and calcium. If you go to Google and type in site:pcrm.org followed by whatever word or topic you want to search on: "soy" or "protein" or "bone health," for example, you will be able to read all the science that we know exists on the topic. This forum will stay active. And we will be back at the new year! You guys have got this. But even if I'm the only one around in a week or two, I'm happy to answer any questions.

Another great option is the McDougall Forums, which you'll find here: http://drmcdougall.com/forums/index.php You'll find me there, and Jeff Novick, a very skilled and knowledgeable RD, Drs. Alona and Matt, and a whole group of amazing, supportive individuals. Hope to see you there, too! Lani

And don't forget that all those tasty recipes are made of ingredients...and ingredients are designed to be mix'n'match - that's why there are DIY meals on the kickstart. Switch out the rice in a recipe for quinoa (or vice versa), cook up some quinoa for breakast instead of using rice in the rice-y pudding breakfast recipe. I guess I'm lucky because all I need to do is tell hubby what ingredients are on the agenda or in the fridge and he can put them together into yummy stuff. We use rough menus for the week in order to make grocery shopping more efficient and cost effective. --Deb

http://pcrm.org/kickstartHome/mealplan/index_week1.cfm I went back and looked at the 21 day menu suggestions and gosh, it seems as though there is such variety there that one could happily just keep making these meals, adding little changes here and there.
