I couldn't believe it. I actually just heard Dr. Oz recommending that you should add more beef and dairy to your diet to lose weight. Gotta have your CLA he says. Wow, oh wow.

Conjugated linoleic acid.

Love/hate relationship with Dr. Oz. On the one hand he features Rip Esselstyn and all things good with switching to plant strong, and then he comes out with advocating meat and fish. Rolling Eyes

I don't think he even eats meat! What are we going to do with these doctors?

You can get CLA from the common or button mushrooms you find at the grocery store.

Tada... problem solved.

OK. Who wants to tackle world peace now?

Think I'll eat the mushrooms!

I actually was sent to an Endocrinologists and he put me on a meat diet I lasted 7 days barely and stopped the diet and seeing him it made me sick. I do not know what to think about most doctor's any more I have what I feel is a good doctor however she is never once suggested that if I would lose weight it would help control my sugar and that I could be able to come off of medicine. Now days you have to be your own doctor and do research yourself.

That's one of the reasons why I stopped watching his show. He says one thing one week and the next, sometimes, it's the complete opposite. I realize he has different themes/subjects he does but he needs to pick a diet to recommend and stick with it. Rolling Eyes

I read an interview with him a while back, where he said his wife is a vegan, and he eats what she cooks. It did not say that they are a strict vegan family, but implied that he certainly leans in that direction.( mentioned that he lunches most days at a vegan restaurant, or takes his own). IMHO, I think there is probably some pressure for him, i.e his show, not to be too dogmatic, esp. diet, so as not to lose any viewers. Too bad! But can't you just see some folks tuning in, " I ain't watchin' no crazy vee-jun!!". Similarly, notice there is little mention of Bob Harper being vegan on Biggest Loser, although in all fairness to him, he did do a piece on the show where he invited them to his house for dinner, and it was all plant-based. Kudos!

I wasn't nearly mean enough. More beef and dairy will also help prevent cancer and heart disease as well as assist in your weight loss say the "good" Doc.

At least more beef and diary would actually help his heart surgery business when people quit watching his "new medical discovery of the day" program which hopefully happens sooner that later.

Was just replying on another thread here and looked up and saw, right next to the 21-Day Vegan Kickstart banner in the green field the picture of Daphne Oz. Obviously, she is vegan,(not that that relates to Dr. Oz,)but hoping we just do not get the whole picture of what one believes, says, etc, on any of these reality shows.

I'm personally off Dr Oz as he has got too commercial and it seems it is all about the TV, the show and the image - hence the mixed messages (my opinion only). Still, I admit that he does have a large following and if only one person makes a healthy lifestyle change due to Dr Oz then thats all good.

Bob Harper is one of my favourites. He has been there in the overweight / no exercise lifestyle and made a change for himself, so he practices what he preaches. I dont think it would be appropriate for him to make a big deal about veganism on the Biggest Looser show as the show is about the contestents and the changes they are making, not the trainer.
