yes I am very lucky in the weight loss area. I lost 2 pounds so far and stubborn inches...I was stagnant at a certain weight and no matter what I did the scale did not move...I freaked this morning when for a laugh I weighed myself and another pound gone....I had been vegan 15 years ago and was always at a healthy 125 pounds...hope to get there again....
Thanks for asking...How about you

Hey Jenny -

Yes I have lost 2 pounds my first week and rarely felt deprived. When i did feel hungry, I reached for apples and peanut butter, or some edamame. I also feel like i have lost inches, but I didn't measure inches in the beginning, maybe I should now, because I definitely plan on staying Vegan. The benefits I have experiences only 10 days in is simply amazing, and knowing that animals do not have to suffer just so that I can eat is another great feeling.

What about you?

Vegetarian since November 18 2009
Vegan since March 1, 2010 & LOVING IT!

I'm making my own menus, but they're compatible with this plan and include recipes from the meal plan and Nutrition MD. I'm down almost 10 lbs since Jan 1. I've been vegan 2 years and was slowly losing anyway, but these tweaks seem to be what I needed to get the rest of the way.

I put on a dress this morning that's been in my closet for at least 4 years. It's a vintage sheath dress and was too tight to wear...until today! I'm so excited. Smile

Are you not seeing the results you want? If you post what you are eating maybe others could help suggest adjustments.

Lani M has posted a couple of times that she gained 2 lbs at first from the increase of fiber (which holds water) but then after a few weeks lost that and continued in the right direction. That happened to a few people in January too, and others seemed to just take a little longer to get started.

Hope you are feeling good, either way!

I've been a vegetarian for over a year and became a vegan when I joined the 21 Day Vegan Kickstart on January 1st of this year. I lost absolutely no weight the first month and a half, but since the middle of February I've lost 8 pounds! If you haven't lost weight yet, hang in there, it will eventually come off. I'm planning on remaining a vegan - I just feel so much healthier and it feels good to know that I'm taking care of myself.

After going thru Breast Cancer, I had gained about 20 lbs. In the past year, I was able to lose about 10 to 11 lbs. Gained back about 3 lbs eating comfort foods due to the cold weather. And then platoed.
I started 21-day vegan kickstart March 1, and have dropped off about 1.5 lbs so far. It's a start and I hope to drop off some more. But I am starting to feel much better after eating. Do not feel overstuffed and do not feel like I have to take a nap.

Good to hear from others on this topic as I was feeling very discouraged this week on the scales. I have been very true to a low fat, vegan diet since March 1 and do not see the pounds falling like I had hoped. I am focusing on the fact that I feel great though. I notice increased energy and an overall feeling of wellness. I believe the weight loss will come - I am sticking with this lifestyle!

Hi all,
I have been losing week after week since I started - January 23, 2010. I told myself to be completely happy with one pound per week. One week I lost only l pound but all the others more. The week I lost only l I had eaten an "almost literal" ton of pasta -comfort food - I have weened myself from so much and now eat pasta but not by the buckets. I stick very closely to the Vegan foods. I eat until I am full - never hungry. I don't eat white or processed anything.

We'll all do well - plateaus will come and go but in the end we will all be delighted with the results. My first plateau hasn't arrived but it will - remind me of what I just said when it comes.

I started this low-fat vegan diet in February 2009. So far I've lost 76 pounds. I have 17 pounds more to go to hit my goal weight. I've also been exercising (45 minutes of cardio 3/week and 30-45 minutes of strength training 2/week) and I quit drinking alcohol and diet coke. My weight loss has slowed recently and I hit a bit of a plateau in November and December (eating more and exercising less due to the holidays).

A few things that I've found that helped when I felt like I was stuck: Make sure you are not eating too few calories - unbelievably this really messes up your metabolism and you will not loose anything; don't skip meals; eat more earlier in the day - breakfast and lunch - and less at night; really focus on eating mainly veggies, fruit and beans, not all pasta, bread and rice - even if it is whole wheat - some is good, but it shouldn't be the majority of your food in a day; increase the intensity or change up the cardio that you are doing - I love cardio intervals - high intensity for a couple minutes, then slower for a minute, and repeat. Good luck!

Congratulations to Essie for finally being able to get into that dress and to KClayton for all the weight loss. You must look MARVELOUS! I, too, lost a huge amount of weight about 5 years ago on Weight Watchers. I have had some injuries and have gained a good portion of it back (inactive). Plus I realized that although WW was a great program that there was still a lot of promotion of processed foods and too much focus on weight instead of what I was putting in my body.

Since January Kickstart I have lost about 10 pounds. Like Babalonia (sorry if I didn't spell correct) I stayed the same for several weeks and then would miraculously loose 3 pounds. It was/is weird. I would have to agree with Babalonia DO NOT GIVE UP.

Bluesgyrl, I am the same way! I'll go for 1 - 2 weeks without losing any weight at all and then, suddenly I'll lose 3 pounds. Glad to know I'm not the only one like that.

Congrats to all that are losing weight!! That is awesome.
Keep up the good work.

I have not lost anything. I started March 1st. I would love to lose 15lbs.

I am feeling better however, I have more energy.

I know I need to exercise more, that would help.
I have a bad back so I need to be careful. I worked out the other day and feel sore.

Onward and upward I go!!

BlondRenee - You can do it. I'm finding as I get closer to my healthy weight, it is coming off a lot slower than it was at first. I've heard people say that if you were ever really, really overweight, once you loose the weight, you will need even less calories to keep loosing weight as opposed to someone who has never been obese. Not sure if this is true, but I'm definitely having a harder time now. Last year, up until November, I was loosing between a pound and three pounds per week on average without really even paying attention to how much I ate, with a couple weeks of vacation where I didn't loose as much. November thru January, I lost almost nothing, but I didn't gain. I was eating a lot more desserts and higher-fat foods though. And starting a few weeks ago, I've seen it start coming off again, by doing the things I mentioned in my previous post. But now, some weeks I loose a pound or maybe a little more and the next week I will only loose 1/2 pound. I weigh everyday and average out my weekly weights to see what I'm actually loosing.

That's awesome that you've lost so much weight, kclayton! Congratulations! Smile

I've lost about 13 pounds since I started eating a vegan diet on 12/28/09. I'm not 100% sure exactly, since I didn't weigh myself when I first started, but according to my doctor's notes as of yesterday, at least, I've lost that much. I just stick to all vegan foods and exercise 5-6 days a week (running, weights, aerobics, yoga or just walking).

Thanks to everyone who shared. I have not lost any weight. But I eat to much, popcorn etc at night. I know my problem. Plus I love chocolate soy ice cream. So I know I need to give up the after dinner snacks. It has just become a habbit to grab something and watch tv with the kids. Embarassed

And it is harder as I get older. (Can't believe I said that.)

I'm going to journal my food today. I too have done WW, and I can lose weight, but don't feel to healthy about it. Rolling Eyes

Some people panic when they feel hunger. If, instead, you think positively about hunger as a sign you are losing weight, it helps. And it makes your next meal taste better if you are a little hungry.

Wrong would be getting so hungry you make bad choices ... just grab something even if it isn't nutritious. Eating meals at regular times is important for appetite control.

A lot of success with weight loss and dietary change is a result of what you put into your head. If you feel you are giving something up when you eat tofu instead of chicken (for instance) you will feel deprived. If you re-word your thoughts and say I'm eating this nice organic tofu I can flavor anyway I want, you will feel happy and full with your good choices.
