Is there a serving size listed somewhere for the food on the menu or can you eat all you want?

You are supposed to eat to satisfaction. Listen to your body. If you are still hungry after having a normal serving, have a little more. I know for me, this is the way I have to relearn to eat. I have done so many diets and stuff over the years that I either eat out of habit, the clock, because I think I should or just because I'm bored/stressed, etc. If I listen to my body and eat to satisfaction, I'm not overstuffed feeling and I tend to lose the weight I want to lose. The hard part is breaking the old habits of counting calories, measuring weighing, etc. and getting back to what my body needs not wants!! Good luck!!

Personally, I would just go for a cup as a serving size for soup or the different grain salads. If you are making a wrap, a small tortilla/half a pita, etc. Oatmeal I'd do a cup, or boxed cereal, what the serving size says. Use a salad plate if you need to. Also supplement with extra vegies because they really don't have many calories but they do have the fiber and lots of good nutrients. And it looks like you are getting more volume!! That helps me. I like to see a lot on my plate when I eat and with lots of vegies, you do. Hope that helps. But eating very low fat and no animal products, staying clear of processed stuff, even if you eat a lot, I still think you will lose.

Thanks! I love the idea of putting more veggies on the plate. I will start doing that today!

I also load my plate with vegetables. you can steam them with water or stir fry with a little vegetable broth. For sandwiches and burgers, I have them open faced (one slice of bread instead of 2) and often have a large salad on the side (watch the dressing, though). You can also drink a full glass of water before dinner to fill you up more and cut back on drinks that have calories so you get your calories from food only.

I also struggle with portions - this time I have tried to include a cup of salade with each meal (veggies only - lettuce etc.). For lunch and dinner I try to have a 1/2 cup each of grains and beans (quinoa usually). I hope this will help me during this kickstart - I am also wearing a sad face....my size 4 pants are just not even close to fitting
