Just in case you're interested Oprah is doing a show today on "Where Does Our Food Come From" with Michael Pollan. Alicia Silverstone is featured as well.

I don't think Pollan is a 100% veg. but he seems to promote plant-based diet. I like his line: "If it's a plant, eat it. If it comes from a plant, don't". Good one.

I'm tuning in...spring break so I'm on hols. Woo hoo! Smile

Darnit! I missed it. I wished they ran middle-of-the-night reruns of her show. Maybe I can catch it on the CBS website or YouTube. (if my son grants me computer access)

It was a great show. Oprah really "pushed" the movie "Food, Inc." although she sure prefaced her words carefully (no repeat performances in court for her!) Very Happy

She did mention the 21-day vegan "cleanse" she did a while back (I remember reading about this and how hard she found it, but I think the cleanse included giving upwine and other things that are "allowed" on a vegan program)and it was interesting to hear her talk about her difficulty giving up...what else?? CHEESE!! Alicia S. said she did too, and that it was the one food she did slip up on occasionally.

All in all, between clips from Food Inc (go to her website to get a free download), to the no-nonsense facts from Michael Pollan and the great tips from Alicia, I believe today's show really did a phenomenal job of encouraging people to raise their consciousness and to think about where their food comes from and what they are putting into their bodies.

Chipotle Restaurant founder was also featured. It looks like a great option to fast food (everything fresh, much from local farmers, and most meats naturally raised without antibiotics etc. including organic beans) Wish we had one around here!
