Feeling sorry for myself
Posted Friday, March 12, 2010 at 3:45 PM

One or two of you may remember that I had a bad spill and went to the Doc. I have been in such pain all week from eye to toe - literally. I had some rice and beans cooked before the fall so all I have eaten all week is fruit, rice and beans. Too sore to cook or perhaps I should say "to want to cook". I could complain to my kids and friends but you know what they would say about what I eat and worse what they would bring me to eat. Sorry for the "sob" story but I just had to reach out - I am SO-O-O-O-O tired of fruit, rice and beans.

So sorry that you are so down. Can you have your kids bring you salad makings? Maybe some other veggies and hummus? Just a thought. I hope you feel better fast.
Drink lots of water as that flushes out the stuff that builds up when you have and injury. It helps the pain go away too.
Feel better. Smile

Hi Jasmine - ouch - sounds like you're in rough shape (in more ways than one!).

Some large chain grocery stores will do your shopping and deliver the goods. Have you called your local Safeway to see if that's a service they offer?

Could you give a list to your family or a friend and ask them to pick up a few things for you? Or, could you order something in for a treat? Recently my daughter and I shared a multi-grain crust pizza with pesto, mushrooms, black olives, onions and fire roasted tomatoes and it was delicious. (be sure to say NO CHEESE PLEASE!)

How about some whole grain pasta with a tomato-based sauce of onions, celery, mushrooms, spinach and red lentils? Just throw it all in a pot and let it bubble away til the lentils are soft (red lentils cook quite quickly compared to other legumes).

Anyway, just a few ideas. Hope you're feeling much better very soon!

Thanks, Guys - I haven't been drinking the water because it's so painful to sit down and get back up again but you are right I need to and will increase my water consumption. and, the pizza and spagetti ideas are good - I will do one tonight for sure. Again, thanks.

Jasmine-where are you located? If you are nearby I'd be happy to bring by some goodies. Been there and it sucks.

Heidi,

Thank you so much for your kind thought - I am, however, in Tyler, TX - a tad far to say the least.

Sorry you're down, Jasmine. These are great ideas. A grocery store that delivers would be great. Stop & Shop has that service, called PeaPod, but I don't think they're in TX.

Pizza places usually have salads and vegetables sides or vegetable-based antipasto too, if you ask. My husband always calls that the "girlfriend section" of the pizza menu. Very Happy Maybe you could order enough for a couple of meals, which would alleviate your boredom with rice and fruit. If you ask for no dressing or dressing on the side the salad won't get soggy if you save it for a later meal.

Hope you get to feeling better soon!

Well perhaps for me but you never know, maybe we have another member of the 'family' near you!

Good health!

Jasmine, I'm so sorry. You poor thing, hope you heal soon. I get how you would be too exhausted to even feel like cooking.
