Weight loss on the kickstart
Posted Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at 1:02 PM

Is anyone else here to loose some weight? How effective is weight loss on a vegan diet? Both my husband and I want to become healthy and loose weight. We are almost retirement age, so it isn't the easiest process. I hope it is never too late!

This is my second kickstart. I said I'd never eat anything but vegan again. I lost quite a bit of weight (I remember thinking the weight was just rolling off - I mean lbs. every few days!) I felt so energized! Sorry I got off track, but I'm back and feeling better already.

I'm also trying to lose weight. I will be 30 soon and it seems like it has gotten very hard to lose weight. I've been trying other things for the last 9 months and so far nothing has worked. I have really high hopes for this because it is more of a life style change and it tells you what to eat, not just what not to eat.

3 days in is too soon to tell, but it sounds like others have done great.

I just got back from the doctor's office a little while ago. I'm 198, which isn't too bad because I was 235 several years ago. However, in October (on my own scale) I was 178. I knew I gained weight, because the clothes aren't fitting as well as before, but man, that's a lot over Thanksgiving and Christmas. When I get home tonight I'll weigh myself and see how that compares to earlier at the doctor's office. Then, really pay attention to what I eat/energy levels, etc. I'm always exhausted by mid-day and just want to go to bed when I get home. I'm hoping the new dietary changes will help that. I'm going to take a little walk to see if that will wake me up. I'm falling asleep at my desk. NOT a very good thing for the boss to see.

I am definitely hoping to lose weight. When I was raw vegan many years ago, I felt better and looked better than ever in my life. When the scaled started tipping over 200 I freaked and knew, I had to go back to vegan. I feel so much better already and know the pounds are melting away. My clothes aren't fetting any different and I haven't weighed in for this week yet but I can see it in my face already. How cool is that?
I can't say how we ever went off vegan last time. I just happened slowly over time and before we knew it, we were eating a seriously unhealthy vegetarian diet. This is exactly what I needed to get back on track.
This time, it is for good!! No going back. I don't ever want to get back to where I am right now, 47, 5'5" and 306 pounds. Yikes.
After the kickstart, I will continue in the vegan lifestyle.
