Brown rice

I have been buying frozen brown rice at Trader Joe's (both conventional and organic). My question is whether by definition is brown rice whole grain?

Yes - brown rice is a whole grain!

Brown rice is whole grain. Golden rice is genetically modified.

Our food system in the country is complicated and made so by the secrecy of our agri-businesses and chemical companies. Even the word organic is owned by our government and they set the definition by law.

Sorry for the politics....had to shout it out.

Thanks. Their rice tastes a little too good to be healthy.

For years I used a rice cooker to cook brown rice. Then I tried Alton Brown's baked brown rice recipe. This is my favorite! I leave out the margarine and sometimes substitute veggie broth for all or part of the water.

We did too! When our way of eating started changing, we got a rice cooker - multi purpose because it could also do oatmeal and other such things. But, it had a minimum quantity which was sometimes more than we wanted to cook at once.

Then we tried Alton Brown's oven rice and it was great! That gave us enough confidence in what it looks like when it's done right and all to just do it stove top now.
