Question for Susan or Jill
Posted Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at 5:26 PM

I made the Cauliflower Bisque recipe, I think it was from the Cancer Project email.

At any rate, it is WONDERFUL and my sister and I both love it. The bad part is, it is made with cashew cream and my weight is stuck so I am trying to eliminate every crumb of nut or oil.

What could I use to get the creamy yumminess of the cashew cream? Mashed navy beans perhaps? Any other idea?

I am really trying and I have eliminated so much from what I eat, and am never sure how I "look" my friends tell me I look fine, but at 170 and 5'5" that says I need to lose weight, and of course the discomfort of the weight itself. I really want to get this off and am trying to oust every little thing to get my body to lose.

I can't find this recipe anywhere! Can you send me a link?

Anyway, if something relies on cashews as the base, you may have to find a completely different recipe that uses cauliflower. How about these?

Now I'm really curious about this one, too. I searched the Cancer Project archive and on NutritionMD and couldn't find anything for Cauliflower Bisque. Any idea where you might have seen it, or if it had a different name?

Totally tooting my own horn, but I'm pretty good at altering recipes. If you want to post the original, I can take a stab at updating it.

P.S. The Curried Cauliflower & Peas is good. Smile

I can't find the link, but here is a link for the same recipe different site.

I left off the breadcrumbs (between the gluten and butter...) and I didn't add the oil.

Super yummy but I can't seem to get the weight to budge... Sooo....

Thank you!!

I think you made the right decision in leaving off those breadcrumbs! And the oil, whoo.

If it were me... I'd use a 1/2 cup cashews instead, leave everything else the same, then add 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk with the cashews. The amount of fat is minimal at that point, and you still get the richness of the cashew cream.

If you're having weight issues that you're frustrated with, feel free to email me anytime. I'm happy to throw out some tips, or recommend some recipes/websites that have great choices.
