After 21 day Kickstart support?
Posted Friday, January 7, 2011 at 11:56 AM
Hi Gang, I got this link to a "Vegan Weigh Down" Program by email yesterday. Not even sure why or how I got it. Anyway, wondering what you all think about it ......or if you'd heard of it.......or if it might be something you'd be interested in joining for "support" after the 21 day kickstart? http://www.veganweighdown.com/ Let me know what you think.....

I would totally do this if it was free, but I already feel like I spend too much money on my diet and health, with my gym membership and all the cook books etc. It would be nice to find a weight loss vegan forum to find support on after this. It is helping me stay focused.

I am a member of sparkpeople.com which a free website for eating healthy and weight loss. It is for everyone but have many teams dedicated to any food types. I've been using it for two years eating vegetarian and vegan.

Still contemplating? I agree that a "free" follow-up program would be great. I do much better with "support" than trying on my own.

This is the first I've heard of it, but it looks like it is created by VegFamily, a reputable organization.

I've been using it for two years eating vegetarian and vegan. I am also a member of SparkPeople.com and it has TONS of useful tools. Log your food, monitor you exercise, find recipes. There are several vegan teams. An Eat To Live team, McDougall team. It's 100% free, check it out. I'm Wild4Stars there also.

It's a great idea but I just don't have the extra money to join. I also use sparkpeople.com like somebody mentioned above and there are vegan "teams" there you can join, which I've done. I can track my daily food intake, exercise and run reports on my nutrition. It's completely free, so it fits into my budget much better

I don't think I would pay $20 a month for Vegan Weigh Down. I didn't see anything there that you can't get at Spark People. Spark is not vegan based, in fact they don't really promote a specific diet, it's just a place where all the tools and support are in one place for whatever eating plan you choose. Food trackers, 100's of exercise videos, a journal, message boards, create a Spark Page, join teams, etc. There are vegan teams and vegan recipes. I really recommend you check it out before joining something you have to pay for. And give it some time, there is SO MUCH there that you're not going to see it all in one quick visit. And it really is 100% free, total access to everything. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage.asp?id=WILD4STARS Check out my Spark Page and go from there. Happy Sparking!

Thanks to all of you who suggested it.

It can be overwhelming because there is so much available. I started out just using bits and pieces. I've been on there almost 2 years and still don't use it all. I just use the parts that work for me.

I went ahead and signed up on the "Vegan Weigh Down"........ Didn't realize when you signed up you are signing up for an "automatic" monthly deduction. Thought I was just signing up to try it out for 1 month. Had difficulty getting on the website after I paid. Sent a couple of letters to them and thought I had it straightened out. Tried to get back on today and wasn't able to. After checking it out.......I think they have some bugs to work out, probably due to it being a new program. Didn't find it to be real "user friendly"......could just be me??? Recipe wise they don't have a huge base right now and you can get way more recipes off the PCRM website. Just thought I'd pass this information along since I posted the orignal regarding it. Guess I'll remain on my own for now. Sparkle was a lot like "facebook" to me & a bit overwhelming.....I'm already pretty involved in "facebook" and don't need to get started in anything else like it right now.
