What is your food today Sat Jan 8th?
Posted Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 8:18 AM
HI All!! So it is SNOWING.. BIG TIME... we have a foot so far and it's supposed to snow all day.. We get to shovel this am, shovel the pm and shovel some more tomorrow. Actually, when i say we, i mean my husband.. unless he gets tired of it or sore, then i go help. We have a visitor for 2 weeks.. it appears he is up to eating vegan. Although the poor guy was looking for the cheese that is not in the fridge. lol Last night after we got home from the airport he ate a black bean burger.. that we stopped calling burger.. changed the name to pattie. It doesn't taste like a burger.. so why call it that? He thought it was pretty good and it was the worst batch we made.. tried to thicken it up with barley.. didn't hold up... the flavor was good..but nothing special. I will take another wack at them while he is here. So today is the normal breakfast.. cereal or oatmeal.. lunch.. i think i will try a new thing.. boil water, put in whole wheat pasta, just before pasta is done put in already coooked beans, drain.... stir in spinach to wilt, maybe throw in other veggies that are hanging out, some garlic.. and wah laaaa lunch... hey that's the name for it...wah laaa lunch.. cool.. then if our guest is planning on being around for dinner i will make some whole wheat biscuits, veggies, and tofurkey! this will be fun sharing with someone who has an open mind.. so how is your weekend.. and what are you eating today?

breakfast as usual (then out to shovel!) lunch - not sure, probably leftover red lentil soup then it's off to help SIL move all afternoon dinner - whatever we're not too exhausted to do - might be buckwheat pancakes for dinner, might just be leftovers snacks - probably fruit whenever I get a chance to take a break, possibly some of our homemade granola balls (PB, rolled oats, whole wheat flour, raisins, pecans, craisins, vegan chocolate chips) if I need a boost with all the heavy lifted and such with the move

Mostly all week I had oatmeal and raisins, sometimes with blueberry For a snack grapes or a banana and or a smoothie For dinner mostly lentil soup with brown rice because I love lentil soup I thought that, that would be easier for me. However, I did mess up on yesterday and had pancakes; so I'm trying to get back on track now. Before my mess up, I was feeling pretty light, maybe its my imagination but my stomach seems to be pulling in and the left over baby pouch (more like left over fat seeing that my youngest is almost 19 now) lol seems not to be so bad. As I said, the goal is to drop down about 15 or 20 pounds and stick with this way of eating.

It is a cold day here today (about 3 degrees as I type this. Farenheit). But we have bright sunshine and thankfully no snow today. Hooray! Breakfast was 7-grain cereal, soaked for an hour in soy milk, with 1/2 banana, raisins and diced dried apricots. Lunch will be brown rice topped with leftover cauliflower curry. Dinner, probably a baked potato topped with leftover veggie and bean stew. I need to rid the fridge of leftovers so I have room for my cooking tomorrow.

Hi All, so far today: B: cereal, 1/2 banana, almond milk L: 4 smart dogs wrapped in 2 ww tortillas with ketchup, mustard, onion, tomato, lettuce (very good) S: the remains of a piece of my daughters leftover raw vegan carrot cake...mmm D: also, don't know that yet, but I'm thinking a stir fry Yesterday I was on the road driving alot, but was on plan. I planned badly for lunch so ended up eating a whole container of edamame, baby carrots and some hummus. I was very hungry by the time I got home. Didn't want to make anything so I went to Subway and had their veggie delite on ww wheat bread. Those just aren't the same anymore. The bread is not that good-too much air! Just saw a tv commercial-McDonalds is now offering oatmeal with fresh fruit on it's breakfast menu! It looks very appetizing, actually. It's so funny to watch them along with Starbucks & Subway, compete for the am customers with all their different coffee drinks, sandwiches and hot cereal! Ok, enough of my observations for one day!

Hi Pam, Yes Subway was an option for us when we were traveling; except all they have is meat. i was really hoping for some tofu. Wouldn't it be great if they started offering tofu slices for sandwiches? Do you like smart dogs? Neither one of us liked them.. we have tried another brand we like better. I like them with sauerkraut. I very rarely, if ever, ate a hot dog. I just didn't know what was in them, and thought it probably wasn't good. Since trying the soy ones.. i surprised my hubby and asked for soy dogs.. hey i know what is in them. But smart dogs are dumb dogs to us. I want to try a raw cake.. fourless, orange, coconut, & almond cake. Have you ever tried it? is it good? it LOOKS amazing. http://averyfoodlydiary.wordpress.com/2010/10/15/guest-post-3-a-craving-for-flourless-orange-coconut-and-almond-cake/

Hi again! cch22: I didn't mind the smart dogs too much-I put alot of condiments over them. I haven't experimented too much with other brands, so I am not too fussy about them yet. I was trying to think of some lunch options....ahh yes, shoveling snow-used to do that when I was growing up in Denver. Now, here on the CA coast, we just mop up the rainfall! veganer: so glad you tried it and liked it. the eggplant just puts the tomato sauce into another dimension and really gives it some depth. And I love the addition of the roasted peppers and garlic. I like RRay's cooking and she does some vegetarian stuff sometimes, which is usually convertible into vegan.
