RE: Vegan Children

You can certainly raise your kids to be vegan! I have a very good friend who grew up vegan (from birth - other than breastmilk, of course ) and she's one of the healthiest people I know. She runs marathons and actually just qualified for the Boston Marathon a few months ago. She has a 2-year-old daughter that she's raising on a vegan diet, as well, and her daughter is right in the middle of the growth charts for height and weight. My friend's brother and his family are also still vegan, though I haven't kept in touch with him. My son has a friend who is almost vegan - he's Indian and he and his family eat basically vegan, though they do eat dairy products - for religious reasons. They are all really healthy, as well. It seems like none of them ever get sick, compared to others in my son's class. LOL I would think since you weren't raised vegan, then you should get a good reference book or two, just to be sure you're getting all the essential nutrients into your child's diet, and work from there. Good luck!
