Come Monday I will have to cook for others
Posted Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 1:15 PM

I started this program the day after j went on vacation. All I've had to think about is making stuff taste good for myself.

I am not picky. I will tolerate a lot if I think it is good for me. And now that I'm on my 6th day, I am doing well. I have found some products I love.

But J will be coming home this Sunday. I pray I can stay on track with myself as I prepare him and the kids foods they eat. They have to come to doing 'this' on their own. All three guys are carnivores to the max. But one good thing is they also like beans. So I will put 'my food on my plate with my beans and soyrizo and try to keep my focus as I prepare what they ask for. Rolling Eyes

Add more and more veggies at a time. Small at first. They will get to love it. Spices and herbs are good at making things taste well and the smells are great. If it smells good they might be more apt to try it.Good Luck.

Thank you, Aleta. you know, that is my one weak point in cooking. I was raised Okie and we fried and buttered everything. Only spice was salt and pepper. I don't know how to spice foods and want to learn. kc Very Happy

KC- I am the only vegan in my family. What I did in the beginning made it very complicated. I would make me something totally different. Now I incorporate what they eat and I can.

Such as:
Marinara and whole wheat noodle ( Just pit the meat on the side and they can add it)

Pizza ( a put no cheese on mine & lots of veggies))

Lasagna ( I just omit what I won't eat and make mine in a separate pan)

Tacos ( I just bump up the beans in it)

I also make tons of bean salads, broccoli salad and pasta salad. And I always make a few lentil patties and freeze them so I can have a "steak" if I want one.
Keep it simple so you can do this for life.

Good luck and good eats!

That's funny Laughing
You're right of course. I think it will be pretty easy actually. They eat lots of veggies, beans and tortillas. Just that there is meat on their plates.

What is this lentil steak and how do you make it taste like one? Sounds good.

I already have them on my 'oatmeal pancakes". But I put eggs in theirs. Maybe I should't but I thought the kids needed the protein. I have got to learn where the protein comes from when not eating meat. kc

Like everyone said it’ll get easier as you do it. All three of my men are carnivores but I am noticing that they are becoming less demanding about the meat. The Daddy has been away for week and it will be a total of 6 weeks when he gets home so there might be a little reclamation period for him but the food is great and very filling. Don’t know if meat will ever completely stop showing up on my table but it is making fewer and fewer appearances every week. Very Happy
